Road Trip Through Western Australia

Our month-long adventure began in Perth, where a friend was living. With cameras in hand and creativity as our compass, the plan was to capture a photographic series inspired by the rough beauty of Australia.

We started with casting eight Australian men to portray during our time in Perth, but soon we craved the open road. Inspired by the film Tracks and Robyn Davidson's journey through the Australian desert, we traded cityscapes for the wilderness, seeking a meaningful experience away from connectivity. Armed with a road map, camping gear, bottles of wine, and a trusty wagon (our "white camel"), we ventured into Western Australia.

The days unfolded unpredictably. We woke with the sunrise warming our tent, traveled 4–6 hours a day, and stopped at roadside villages to refuel and recharge. The desert surprised us with its lush greenery from recent rains, and we found beauty in the contrasts—the endless roads, the abundant wildlife (both alive and, sadly, not), and the solitude of the landscape.

Evenings were magical. Marina, the “chef,” transformed humble ingredients into hearty meals, while I pitched our tent against pink sunsets. We sipped wine, gazed at the stars, and met remarkable souls—like the Camel Lady, a spiritual guide named Paul, and two anonymous boys who played guitar under the moonlight.

The desert, far from being barren, became a space to connect, laugh, and grow. After 12 days, 5,000 kilometers, and just a few showers, we returned to Perth in time for our next adventure in Bali.

This road trip was a journey of discovery, where each moment became a story to cherish.
